Multi-read content how to remove cork from wine bottle without corkscrew

In any liquor store, the consumer is faced with a choice: choose a bottle with a lid – a more romantic option but one that requires more effort to open – or reach out for a bottle.screw capfor easy access? For those who decide to go with the former, only to find that their screws seem to be missing, there is no need to worry. It turns out there are more ways to open a bottle of wine than there are ways to seal it.

Disclaimer: Most of these methods are not 100% absolute. So be careful, as many of these methods risk breaking the cork and falling into the wine, chipping the wine bottle, or in the worst case, breaking the bottle entirely. If you have a rare and/or expensive wine that would break your heart if broken, we recommend waiting until you have a corkscrew. In most other cases, however, these options can lift you out of despair and give you a night of wine-filled fun.

1 – Use a screw (the longer the better), a screwdriver and a hammer

This is probably one of the safest methods on this list, but it does require resilience and strength, as it can easily tire you out. You just need to take a screw (preferably the long one) and screw it into the cap with a screwdriver until about an inch remains. Then you take the back of the hammer, lock under the screw and remove the plug. You may also need a towel to wipe the sweat off your brow after the task is complete.

2 – Press the button with a wooden spoon handle or other blunt object of similar size

It’s also a fairly safe method to use compared to some of the others on this list, but it does have its downsides. To open the bottle, take the handle of a wooden spoon (or similar object) and press down on the cork of the wine bottle. Unfortunately, it’s nearly impossible to remove the bottle cap once you’ve pushed it down. Also, if the bottle is old, the cork may crumble and fall into the wine after being pressed down. However, this is not an ideal result, if you are traveling with friends and plan to drink the whole bottle, there is no need to worry. Simply use a strainer and pour the bottle of wine into a decanter to remove the cork bits.

3-Hang them with a hanger

This method is relatively simple, but it does require you to say goodbye to one of your wire hangers – you won’t be using it to hang clothes anymore. First, bend the end of the hanger back about 30 degrees; If you do it right, it will look like a hook. Then, thread the string along the sealed wine bottle, along the cork. Rotate the cord 90 degrees to hook it under the stopper. Simply pull the rope up and the cork will come off. Pliers or other household items can be used to pull the hanger out if it seems stuck. Just be sure to use a towel or gloves to protect yourself.

4 – Pump

It’s very simple. Take a bicycle pump with a needle attached and pierce the cork until the needle comes in contact with the air between the cork and the wine. Then pump air into the bottle. As you pump, the cork will slowly come out of the bottle due to air pressure.

5 – Unmold with a wrench or a serrated knife

This method is somewhat similar to the first alternative, where a screw and hammer are used to pull the cork out. This time, however, you simply insert a wrench or serrated knife into the cork at a 45 degree angle and move the top of the item in a circular motion, essentially screwing the cork down slowly. After a few turns, the cork should come out. Be sure to put your things in the cap, otherwise the cap could break.

6 – Wrap the bottle with a towel and use the wall to break the bottle

This is the point on the list where things get a little dangerous, so be careful. Both of the previous options require at least one tool, but if you find yourself with limited resources, this option might be your best friend. Simply wrap the bottom of the wine bottle in a thick towel (or two for extra security) and hit the wall a few times. Obviously the bottle can break if you do this, so use it as a last resort. You won’t get the cork the first time you hit the wall, so we recommend limiting your full strength. Instead, slam the bottle against the wall several times, slowly moving the cork outward.

7 – Hit him with a shoe

It is a similar method to the previous one, but it is a little less risky. Wrap the bottom of the bottle with a towel, but instead of banging it hard against the wall, just turn the bottle upside down between your legs in a seated position and hit it with your shoes. It can take a long time, but it’s a safer option than number 6. Remember to stop before the clog comes out or you’ll end up with a mess and stains forever.

8 – Apply heat to move pimple out

This option is pretty wacky, but it actually works. Use a torch or lighter to heat the neck of the wine bottle just below the cork. The heat will force the cork to move up and eventually out of the bottle. However, make sure the bottle is not cold, otherwise it may explode due to rapid temperature changes. If your bottle has been refrigerated, allow it to sit in a warm environment for some time before applying heat.
